Chicken Tortellini Soup {Instant Pot Recipe}

Today has become one of those clean out the refrigerator and freezer days here at my house.  I have been craving soup (and yes I know the weather is warming up some) but we all eat hot food everyday so why not have some soup.  I must have purchased a couple of bags of frozen tortellini a few weeks ago when there was a great sale price so now was the perfect time to incorporate this into an Instant Pot Recipe.

This recipe is fun and easy because for the most part you just dump all your ingredients in the pot (except for the tortellini and cream cheese) and walk away. I used frozen chicken breast for my recipe.  It simply takes the same amount of time as fresh but make a few extra minutes to come to pressure.

Close the lid, seal the valve, push meat/stew and adjust time to 12 minutes on high pressure.

This is what it looks like when you open the pot.

Once you’ve released the pressure, open the pot and remove the chicken to shred.

I don’t mind if it’s an extra step in cleanup,  I always shred my chicken in my Kitchenaid Stand Mixer. If you don’t have one, you can easily just use your hand mixer. It takes so much less time to do it this way. It’s worth it!

Once the chicken is out of the pot, push the saute button.  Add the cubed cream cheese and frozen tortellini. Stir for about 4 minutes until both are ready to go.

Add the shredded chicken back into the pot and stir again. Serve with shredded cheese or Parmesan cheese.

  • We just got our pressure cooker & this is NOT my grandmother’s scary pressure cooker. Your recipe was the first thing I made as I already had all of the ingredients. I did change the amount of servings since we have 3 teenagers who eat like it is their job! Eveveryone in our home loved this. They even ate the leftovers which is a difficult task to get my kids to do. Absolutely nothing was wasted! I’m pleased I chose this as my fiirst recipe to try & I imagine it will only get better the more often we make it.

    I have a question though regarding nutrition facts. Does this recipe have the nutrient facts as I use my health app on my phone as well as MyFitnessPal to track excercise & nutrition I’m getting through out the day. Please advise & if not it would be a tremendous advantage for your recipes to include this information for tracking daily intake of all the nutrients being absorbed by the body. I know my family would be grateful! Thank you so much for a superb meal! My family of five loved it & this will definitely go into the rotation of meal planning & cooking at our home.

    • Hello, I currently don’t but I have been wanting to add this feature into my blog. I will definitely make this a near-future project. So glad you liked the dish!!
