  1. Heat waffle iron. While the iron is heating, prepare cake mix according to box instructions.
  2. Once iron is heated, spray both sides with cooking spray. Spoon 3/4 cup batter on bottom iron. Let sit for about 30 seconds then close lid. Allow to bake for about 2-2 1/2 minutes or when your chocolate waffle is done. (This may take more time depending on how your waffle iron heats.)
  3. Remove waffle with spatula and allow waffles to cool.
  4. When you are ready to add your ice cream, allow for the ice cream container to sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes.
  5. With offset spatula, spread softened ice cream on one chocolate waffle and top with the other waffle. Wrap whole in parchment paper or waxed paper and place in freezer for at least two hours up to overnight.
  6. When ready to serve, remove from freezer and cut into fourths or eights.
