How to make a Stuffed Crust Pizza

I have always thought making a stuffed crust pizza was some magical trick. If it is, I am pretty much a magician.  I don’t even know how the big chains make theirs but mine is super easy that even a 2 year old can do it.  🙂

Begin by making your pizza dough.  Here is my tried and true pizza dough recipe that I love!

When the dough has risen, roll it out the size you’d like.  I use a 15″ pizza stone.  Make the size of your dough about 2 inches more.

From then I used mozzarella sticks.  My kid loves cheese sticks so she threatened to eat most of them. (she didn’t, she really is too sweet for that)  Cut each mozzarella stick into thirds and place around the outside of the circle leaving about a 1-2 inch border.

Roll the excess dough over the cheese sticks and press in to allow the dough to seal.  Poke holes on the bottom of your crust using a fork (or what looks to be a cleaver with mine).  This will allow for even baking. Par bake the dough on 450°F for about 8 minutes.

Remove from oven and top your pizza with your favorite ingredients.

Some toppings could include sauce, cheese, mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage and onions.  Add  YOUR favorite toppings.

Before going in oven, add one egg and about 1 TBS of water to a small bowl and whisk.  Brush egg wash over the crust of the pizza then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Bake in 450°F oven for about 12-15 minutes. This may take more time depending on how your oven heats.

Remove from oven and add fresh basil before serving to avoid wilting and browning.
